It’s starting to get a little dicey for the Steinbach Pistons.

After opening up their MJHL quarter-final series vs. the Winnipeg Blues with three straight one-goal victories, the Pistons have lost the last two, outscored 10-2 in the process, as they now cling to a 3-2 series lead.

After a 6-1 loss Thursday at the Iceplex, the Pistons followed that up with a 4-1 defeat on home ice Saturday night in Steinbach.

All of the damage was done in the first period as the Blues romped to a 4-0 lead, outshooting the Pistons 20-6 in the opening frame.

The Pistons made a push in the second, outshooting the Blues 14-4 in the period, but couldn’t get one by Jeremy Link.

Steinbach finally got on the board in the third as pesky penalty killer Troy Beauchemin scored a shorthanded marker. The Blues outshot the Pistons 38-29 in the contest.

Mikol Sartor paced the Blues with two goal and an assist while James Maxwell and Sulivan Shortreed added singles.

Game six in the series will be played Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Bell MTS Iceplex. If a seventh and deciding game in the series is required, it will be played Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Steinbach.

Elsewhere last night, the Virden Oil Capitals defeated the Selkirk Steelers 3-1 as the Oil Capitals now lead that series 3-2.

The two other series are now complete as the Portage Terriers swept the Waywayseecappo Wolverines four straight and the Swan Valley Stampeders also took the Dauphin Kings in four. The winner of the Pistons vs. Blues series will face Swan Valley in the semi-finals.
