The Steinbach Pistons blanked the Swan Valley Stampeders 6-0 Tuesday night at Swan River to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their Manitoba Junior Hockey League best of seven quarter-final series.

Steinbach took the first two games of the series 4-0 and 5-1 at home during the weekend and can wrap up the series tonight as the two teams go at it again at 7:30 p.m. at Swan River.

The Pistons won game three in their usual dominant fashion over the Stampeders, as this 1 vs. 8 series as been a mis-match.

Skating to period leads of 1-0 and 4-0, Matthew Thiessen posted the shutout making 30 saves.

Defenceman Mark Taraschuk led the Pistons scoring attack with a goal and two assists. Rounding out the Steinbach scoring was Austin Heidemann, Bradley Schoonbaert, Brady Tatro, Daniel McKitrick and Braden Purtill.

All four series saw action last night. At Virden, the Oil Capitals blanked the Selkirk Steelers 4-0 to take a 2-1 lead in their series.

The two other series both went to double overtime. At Winkler, OCN defeated the Flyers 4-3 as the Flyers still lead that series 2-1.  And at Portage, the Terriers defeated the Winnipeg Blues 4-3 to narrow the Winnipeg lead to 2-1 in the series.
