It took a while for the engines to get humming but by midway through the third period the Steinbach Pistons were firing on all cyclinders, overcoming an early deficit as they cruised to a 4-2 win over the Selkirk Steelers.

A warm welcome for the home team was quickly forgotten as the Steelers pulled ahead with a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the first period. The visiting team added another marker to further silence the Steinbach crowd at the T.G. Smith Centre as the first period neared its end.

The Pistons weren’t about to sit back however. Steelers goaltender Hayden Dola was busy on the night as the Pistons fired a total of 42 shots at the veteran netminder, 20 of those shots in the second period alone.

The hard work paid off for the Pistons as Drew Worrad pulled them within one in the second before the floodgates opened in the third, with Pistons goals from Jack Johnson, Darby Gula and Brad Schoonbaert.

The two teams square off for a rematch in Selkirk tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
