The St. Malo Warriors are out and the La Broquerie Habs are in as the Carillon Senior Hockey League begins their 2018-19 regular season this weekend.

St. Malo is taking a year leave of absence from the league while the Habs return from a leave of absence of their own, leaving the league with five teams, the same number as last year.

Rounding out the loop are the Grunthal Red Wings, Lac du Bonnet Blues, Red River Wild and the defending champion Ste. Anne Aces.

Two games on Saturday will kick off the new season as Red River hosts La Broquerie at 7:00 p.m. at St. Jean and Ste. Anne travels to Lac du Bonnet for an 8:00 p.m. clash with the Blues.

Each team will play a 20-game regular season schedule, with the regular season wrapping up on Feb. 9.

There is a leadership change at the league this year as longtime president Ray Laing has stepped back this year and the new president is former player Stacey Neufeld. Laing remains as president of the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League.
