Red Wings top Aces as finals underway

The Grunthal Red Wings rallied from a 2-0 first period deficit Monday night in Grunthal and went on to defeat the two-time defending champion Ste. Anne Aces 5-3 in the opening game of the Carillon Senior Hockey League championship series.

Kyle Lundale had two goals to pace the Red Wings as they took a 3-2 lead into the third. Ryan Frykas, Jason Frykas and Landon Plett rounded out the Grunthal scoring.

Replying for the Aces were Miguel Rondeau, Justin tremblay and Keith Grondin.

Grunthal (16-2-2-0) finished just a point ahead of the Aces (16-3-1-0) in the regular season standings.

Game two in the best of seven series will be played Friday at 8:00 p.m. in Ste. Anne and then back to Grunthal for game three Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
