Sabres plan for new football recruits

The SRSS Sabres football program will hold a new player and parent meeting on Tues., Apr. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the SRSS theatre.

With the local hockey season now in the books, it’s time to think football, as in high school football.

The SRSS Sabres will be holding a New Player and Parent meeting on Tuesday, Apr. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the SRSS theatre.

The meeting will be for any current grade 8, 9, 10 or 11 students who did not play Sabres football last season.

 Meanwhile, Sabres football coordinator Jamie Peters says they also preparing for the upcoming spring camps.

The Junior Varsity camp (current grade 8 and 9 students) runs Apr. 30 to May 23. The Varsity camp (current grade 10 and 11 students) will be held May 7-23.

The SRSS Sabres varsity team joined the Winnipeg High School Football League in 2010 and will be entering into their 10th season in the fall. The school added a junior varsity program two years ago.
