The red hot SRSS Sabres doubled the Shaftesbury Titans 4-2 Wednesday afternoon in Winnipeg to move into a second place tie with the Titans in the Winnipeg High School Hockey League’s Winnipeg Free Press Division.

SRSS has a record of 8-2-1-1, tied in points with Shaftesbury, but the Sabres also have a game in hand on the Titans. SRSS has garnered points in six straight games, five of those regulation time wins, and now trail only the Sanford Sabres in the 13-team Free Press Division.

Leading the way for the Sabres yesterday was Eric Adams with a pair of goals while Dilan Sawatzky and Tyler Buckert added singles. Avery Neufeld picked up the win in nets for the Sabres. Bueckert leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and 19 points in 12 games this season.

The Sabres now have the week off before returning to the ice Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 4:00 p.m. in Steinbach as they host the Sanford Sabres in what could be a battle for first place.
