Sultans set to host MJBL playoff opener

The Manitoba Junior Baseball League playoffs kick-off tonight in Steinbach as the Carillon Sultans will host the Interlake Blue Jays in the opening game of the best of three quarter-finals.
Game time at A.D. Penner Park is 7:00 p.m.
The Sultans finished fourth in the regular season standings with a 12-12 record while the Blue Jays were seventh at 7-16.
Game two in the series will be played Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Stonewall. If a deciding game is required, it will be played back in Steinbach Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Other first round match-ups have second place Elmwood up against last place St. Boniface and fifth place Altona facing sixth place Pembina Valley.
The pennant-winning St. James A’s have received a first round bye in the post-season. The Brandon Marlins, third in the regular season standings, have opted out of the MJBL playoffs.
