The Manitoba baseball team just keeps on rolling at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.
After going 5-0 in the round robin, which included a memorable 3-2 extra inning victory over powerhouse Ontario in their final round robin game, Manitoba scored another incredible victory on Thursday with a 1-0 victory over Alberta in the semi-finals to advance to the gold medal game tonight.

More than 2,000 fans at Shaw Park were on hand as Manitoba scored the only run of the sixth inning. Team Manitoba includes Yanyyk Nadeau from La Broquerie and Zach Giesbrecht from Landmark.

Manitoba will now face Saskatchewan in the gold medal tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Shaw Park. Saskatchewn blanked Ontario 7-0 in the other semi-final game. Manitoba has never won Canada Games gold. Their best performance has been silver, most recently in 1985.

Meanwhile on the track yesterday, Grunthal’s Caleb Friesen just missed a medal as he raced to a fourth place finish in the Male Special Olympics 100m final.
