Starting line packed for 10th annual Let's Run

Runners competed under sunny skies on Saturday as the 10th annual Let’s Run event took over the Steinbach Soccer Park.
Brian Walker of Winnipeg claimed top spot in the quarter marathon event with a time of 35:07. He was followed by La Broquerie’s John-Peter De Jong with a second place run of 45:17 and Mitchell’s Heriberto Ayala with a third place finish of 47:11.
Steinbach’s Catherine Engel was the top quarter marathon finisher among female competitors with a time of 47:48. Jaala Ross of La Broquerie place second with a time of 48:46 and was followed in third by Meridith Froese of Steinbach with a time of 51:14.
Winnipeg’s Josh Guenther took first among the men in the 5 km run with a time of 17:30. Shannon Dueck of Rosenort came second with a time of 19:11. Blumenort’s Weston Loewen clocked a time of 19:18, good enough for third place overall.
Anita Pauls of Mitchell was the top female in the 5 km with a time of 23:02. Anna Stoesz of Steinbach raced to second place with a a time of 23:50. Abigail Duizer of Mitchell came third with a run time of 24:14.
In the 2 km run, 10-year-old Jackson Penner set the pace for the boys, completing the race in 8:29. 9-year-olds Jordan Schroeder of Mitchell and Jayden Siemens of Steinbach finished second and third with times of 8:44 and 8:47.
A trio of Steinbach 9-year-olds were the top females in the the 2 km event. Jasmine Gerbrand took first place with a time of 9:19. She was followed in second by Ariel Pert at a time of 10:10 and Jazlyn Barkman in third at 10:11.
A total of over 500 runners competed in the the three races.
