About Damon Bath
When were you born?
Between 1981 and 1996 (Millennial)
Tell our readers a bit about your professional life. What do you do for a living? If you're an incumbent candidate, what did you do before you entered politics?
I am currently a student at the University of Winnipeg doing my second batchelors degree in Conflict Resolution studies after having recently graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary linguistics. Historically I have held a wide variety of jobs ranging from customer service and call centre to warehousing and construction.
What's the highest level of education you've attained?
Bachelor's degree
How long have you lived in the constituency? If you don't currently live there, what led you to run there instead of where you live?
I currently live in Fort Rouge however when I first moved back to Winnipeg in 2019 I lived in Saint Boniface for slightly over a year and would love to move back given the opportunity, wether or not I am elected. My favourite thing about Saint Boniface and why I chose to run there is the linguistic diversity, with a large Francophone population as well as Anglophone and Allophone I see myself represented more in Saint Boniface.
What is the biggest challenge facing your constituency, and how would you address it?
The biggest challenge I believe facing Saint Boniface and indeed Manitoba as a whole is the rising cost of living, wether it's rents, house prices or basic necessities such as food there is a risk of a falling standard of living if we keep going on the current trajectory, our vision to address said problem would be to come down hard on the large corporations and developers causing this crisis with their greed.
If elected, what will be your first priority?
My first priority would be addressing the cost of living crisis previously mentioned.
Who are your role models in politics, and why?
My biggest role model in politics is the former president of Burkina Faso, Thomas Sankara. He is one of my biggest inspirations because he was a very passionate believer in personal austerity and solidarity, altho president of Burkina Faso he kept his wage low and eliminated the excess that become endemic in a political structure that saw the country run by a corrupt elite.
Tell us something about yourself that voters might find surprising.
I am a polyglot, French is my 4th language.
