About Jamie Moses
When were you born?
Between 1981 and 1996 (Millennial)
Tell our readers a bit about your professional life. What do you do for a living? If you're an incumbent candidate, what did you do before you entered politics?
Before politics, I worked with farmers at the Canadian Wheat Board and then as the Senior Workforce Management Analyst for IG Wealth Management
What's the highest level of education you've attained?
Bachelor's degree
How long have you lived in the constituency? If you don't currently live there, what led you to run there instead of where you live?
I have lived in the constituency of St. Vital for 14 years.
What is the biggest challenge facing your constituency, and how would you address it?
The biggest challenge for the people of St. Vital is health care. Seniors and families throughout St. Vital have told me about the challenges that they have faced while trying to access health care services – services that have been cut during the past seven years of this PC government. Our NDP plan would invest in and strengthen healthcare by retaining and recruiting healthcare workers to better serve our community.
If elected, what will be your first priority?
My top priority would be to work to fix our healthcare system by listening and working collaboratively with local healthcare experts and working to ensure that we have the educational supports in place to effectively recruit more healthcare workers into our public system.
Who are your role models in politics, and why?
Former US president Barack Obama has been a role model of mine because of the way he was able to communicate a positive vision for the future and also the way he effectively increased access to health care for millions of working-class people.
Tell us something about yourself that voters might find surprising.
I am a former AAAA Provincial Male Athlete of the Year and still hold a Winnipeg High School Football league record – Most Receiving Yards in a Game: 270 yards.
