Tell our readers a bit about your professional life. What do you do for a living? If you're an incumbent candidate, what did you do before you entered politics?

Born in Prague (former) Czechoslovakia in 1955. I ran across the iron curtain into Austria, by myself in the middle of the night in September 1968, at the age of 13, following the Soviet led invasion of Czechoslovakia. Reunited with my mother and uncle in Austria. Arrived in Winnipeg, Canada in November 1968. Lived here ever since.

I am a retired computer engineer, with B.Sc.Eng(TE) from U Manitoba.

Self taught in electronics since age 14, when I helped my mother financially by repairing vacuum tube televisions and HiFi stereos. Also designed and built custom speaker systems.

Graduated from high school in 1974 with quad UE 300. Attempted electrical engineering, dropped out for medical reasons, worked for several electronic shops and for the U of Manitoba in the dept. of Mechanical Engineering.

Worked in electronics at Red River College from 1979 through 1992. Studied part time in Electronic Engineering Technology at Red River College, while working there, 3.92 average.

Ran as a Liberal for provincial politics in 1988, in the riding of Emerson, got approx 29% of the popular vote.

Got laid off from Red River College in 1992, courtesy of the Filmon administration. Worked servicing radio communications equipment and airport navigation systems in Thompson 1992-1993.

Returned to uni as a single parent in 1994, graduated from Computer Engineering with a near 3.83 average in 1999.

Completed the academic requirements for M.Sc. except for my thesis. Worked for D.E.M.Allen and Associates Engineering, writing software for antenna design. Got sick, retired early on disability assistance. Sued the provincial government over unconstitutional CPP confiscation from disabled persons, won a unanimous victory in the Manitoba Court of Appeal, upheld by the Supreme Court, setting a national precedent.

Came out of retirement to fight against the conservatives and for healthcare.
