The Steinbach Pistons have finalized a trade with the OCN Blizzard that will bring one of the leading scorers in the MJHL to the Pistons. The Pistons have sent 17-year-old forward Ryan Pruden and 19-year-old forward
David MacGregor to the Blizzard in exchange for 20-year-old foward Damien Kulynych.

Kulynych, from Calgary, is eighth in league scoring with 42 points in 35 games, as he becomes the Pistons leading scorer, one point more than Justin Augert. “We have been talking to OCN for awhile about acquiring Damien,” coach Paul Dyck said this morning, “with him, we are adding depth and experience, he is a power forward that will fit in well with our club.”

MacGregor, who hails from California has eight points in 39 games this year, while Winnipeg product Ryan Pruden, the key to the trade from OCN’s perspective, had only three points, including two goals in 16 games with the Pistons this year. Pruden, a Saskatoon Blades prospect, was with the Blades earlier this season, before being sent back to the Pistons. Pruden was also out for two months this season with a wrist injury.

“We look foward to adding Damien to our line-up, he has had success this year with the Blizzard,”Dyck added, “we have been targeting him, some of our defencemen have said he is one of the most difficult players to play against.”

Kulynyck flew from the The Pas to Winnipeg this morning and will be at practice this afternoon and will be inserted into the line-up for Saturday night’s game at home against the Winnipeg Blues.

Meanwhile, the Pistons also announced this afternoon that forward Denis Bosc has been returned to the Pistons from the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos. Bosc, 18, from Dufresne, had one assist in 39 games with the Broncos thiis season.
