Canadiens alumni to face local stars

The Steinbach Pistons have announced the over-35 line-up of local hockey stars, most of them long retired, that will take on a Montreal Canadiens alumni team in a Pistons’ hockey club fund-raising hockey game Oct. 23 in Steinbach.

Playing at foward will be Dale Krentz, Brad Purdie, Pat Penner, Mitch Normandeau, Louis Cote, Mike Martens, Matt Friesen, Jon Stroich and Paul Gauthier.

Defencemen will include Mitch Tetrault, Brent Stoesz, Rob Smith, Ryan Bonni, Jared Driedger and Harold Rempel.

In goal wil be Neal Stoesz and Ivan Koop and the local side will be coached by Paul Dyck and Graham Pollock.

Canadiens alumni expected to play in Steinbach include Richard Sevigny, Rick Green, Yvon Lambert, Guy Carbonneau, Steve Shutt, Mathieu Dandenault, Normand Dupont, Gilbert Delorme, Karl Dykhuis, Sergio Momesso and Stephane Richer.

The game begins at 7:00 p.m. Advance tickets, at $20 each, can be purchased at Earl’s Meat Market, La Broquerie Lumber and Niakwa Pizza.

VIP ticket packages are also available at Boston Pizza (pre-game) and Frantz Motor Inn (post-game).
