The Steinbach Pistons won’t be the only team in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League enjoying new digs for the 2025/2026 season.
The Winnipeg Blues announced they would be moving from the Hockey for All Centre to the RINK Training Centre in Southeast Winnipeg. The Blues have called the Hockey for All Centre home for the past two seasons, sharing a venue with the Winnipeg Ice.
Head coach and general manager Josh Gratton called the move a “game-changer,” in a press release on the Blues’ website.
“We are incredibly excited about the opportunities this new facility will provide for our players, staff, and fans,” he said.
“RINK’s commitment to providing a world-class experience aligns perfectly with our vision for the future of the Blues. We believe this move will elevate our team to new heights and create a more dynamic and engaging experience for everyone involved.”
The RINK Hockey Corporation runs various hockey academies and training centres in both Winnipeg and Kelowna. The centre the Blues will be moving into features a new dressing room and training facilities.
Teams across the MJHL will have to work harder this off-season to attract players, as the league eliminated their player draft this off-season. Any player who wants to play in the MJHL will have a choice between all 13 teams across the league.
The Ice will remain at the Hockey for All Centre, located near the Assiniboine Downs. Both the Blues and Ice are owned by the same group, 50 Below Sports and Entertainment.
Both Winnipeg franchises haven’t found much success on the ice since the COVID-19 pandemic, finishing at the bottom of the standings every year since the 2021/2022 season.
