The Steinbach Curling Club will be a beehive of activity this weekend as the club hosts the Provincial Stick Curling Championships.

Thirty-two teams, comprised of two-person teams, will be competing at the 15th annual event, billed as the Manitoba 2 Person Provincial Championship, being held in Steinbach for the first time.

Ten of the competing teams are from Steinbach, teams that compete in the thriving Stick Curling League at the Steinbach Curling Club.

The competition begins Friday at 9:00 a.m. and continues through the weekend. Playoffs are on Sunday with the championship game slated for 4:30 p.m. Spectators are welcome and there is no admission.

In stick curling there are only two players on each team and the rock is delivered with a stick that attaches to the rock handle. There is a player at each end, one skipping and one delivering and sweeping is only allowed from the hog line in.
