Firefighters from Niverville responded to a fire call on Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m. at a rural property on Provincial Road 311, just east of Highway 59. Crews from Tache and St Pierre helped battle the blaze in a barn, which Niverville fire chief Keith Bueckert described as a typical, 1950s milking barn structure.

The building was a complete loss and little remained of it as crews surveyed the scene around 10:30 p.m. No one was injured and there were no livestock in the building at the time. Hay in the structure was still helping to further fuel flames late Tuesday night. Bueckert said crews would remain on the scene to monitor the fire and that a backhoe was being brought in to separate the smoldering remains further.

He said he expected the cause of the fire will be listed as undetermined.
