Free comedy supporting comic Matt Falk

The laughs will be free Sunday night at Providence College.

Niverville comedian Matt Falk is hosting an entertainment night in support of his advancement in a national CBC competition where $500,000 in production financing to create a half-hour prime time special is on the line.

Of almost 300 comedy teams who entered, the list has been whittled down to 110 and now a top 55 of which Falk’s entry is a part of—the only Manitoba team left in the running.

On Monday, the top 15 will be announced.

To make the exclusive class, Falk needs online votes, and that’s why he’s staging a free event Sunday, Nov. 9 at Providence College in Otterburne at 7 p.m. to help generate publicity.

Confirmed performers include LA Music Awards nominee Sheena Grobb, local Mennonite musical trip 3 Mol Plaut, magician Chris Funk and Elvis impersonator Corny Rempel.

The pitch for the parody how-to show sees Falk as an overly confident host trying to convince viewers he is an expert on everything, when the opposite is the case.

The part-scripted, part-reality TV series is supposed to, in short, teach you ‘how to do everything gooder,’ which is the title of the proposed program.

Matt Falk has gained local and national acclaim for his “squeaky clean” comedy meant for all ages. Falk once placed second in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas.
