Two men were sent to the hospital early Friday morning following a crash on the intersection of Provincial Road 206 and 311, west of Blumenort.

Steinbach RCMP received the call about the crash shortly after 6 a.m.

RCMP Cpl. Glen Binda said an investigation indicated that a 2013 Grand Caravan was travelling north on PR 206, where it stopped at a stop sign and proceeded to go despite the presence of a 1999 Toyota Tacoma travelling west on PR 311.

The truck hit the van’s front end and was propelled in the ditch, where it landed on its side. The truck’s driver was able to exit the vehicle, but the passenger was stuck and needed to be extracted by firefighters.

The truck’s driver and passenger, both male, were taken to Bethesda Hospital.

Cpl. Binda said their injuries are considered non-threatening.

The van’s driver was treated by paramedics and released on the scene.

No charges have been laid and the crash is still under investigation. Alcohol is not considered a factor.
