After increasing the Liberal Party’s fortunes locally in three successive federal elections, Terry Hayward will bid for a seat in the Manitoba legislature.
Hayward, the former public servant from Anola who has run for the Liberals in Provencher, has been selected as the Manitoba Liberals candidate in what is shaping up to be a competitive race in Dawson Trail for the spring election.
Party leader Rana Bokhari is in Lorette Monday morning for the announcement.

Hayward will face off against incumbent Ron Lemieux with the NDP, who has been in office since 1999. Lemieux made a pre-election push last month when he committed up to $8 million for a long-awaited Lorette community complex.
The Progressive Conservatives are represented by Bob Lagasse, a foster parent from Landmark who won a competitive nomination period against three other challengers.
Lemieux won the 2011 election with 53 percent of the electorate.
