With the wave of a wand, Mitchell residents will no longer have to risk washing their car only to soil it before making it home with the unveiling of Clearview Co-op’s new location in the community.
The near-$7 million gas bar and convenience store opened last Thursday, Aug. 5. It features a five-bay wand wash and a convenience store more than double the size of the old one.
“We couldn’t provide the services that we needed anymore,” Henry Nickel, general manager of Clearview Co-op, said. “This space will be able to accommodate the community’s needs.”

The 2,900-sq-ft space has added plenty of room for customers to stock up on snacks, pre-made sandwiches, and an expanded selection of slushy flavours. A fourth fuel island has been installed to serve more customers as well, Nickel said.
Clearview broke ground on the project in June 2020 expecting to complete it by early 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the process until the project could be finished with all public health orders in mind.
As for the old location west of the new space, Nickel said they will begin decommissioning the old pumps in the coming weeks and renovate the convenience store to be repurposed. Whether the pit stop will remain under the Clearview banner or leased to a private owner remains to be seen.
