Yet another weekend full of community celebrations and summer fun is on the way in the southeast.
Tolstoi Harvest Festival
Head down to Tolstoi for the Tolstoi and Area Harvest Festival this Saturday.
Doors open at noon, along with free children’s activities including face painting, crafts, games and barrel train rides at the Tolstoi Senior Centre. Beer gardens open at noon as well.
Historic buildings throughout the town are open for viewing from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Catch live entertainment, a Ukrainian Zabava and Metis jigging from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tolstoi Ukrainian National Home. Admission is $5 and performers include Zenon Horobec with Lorne Derkatch, champion jigger Janessa Leanna Roy and the Mosaics.
A social starting at 7 p.m. will wrap up at 1 a.m. Admission is $10. Draws for the silent auction and 50/50 draw take place at 10:15 p.m. Tickets for both can be purchased from noon until 10 p.m.

Middlebro Family Fun Day
Middlebro is hosting its annual Family Fun Day fundraiser this Saturday starting at 3 p.m. at Middlebro Park.
A Pots and Pans baseball game begins at 3:30. A wheel of fortune and raffle and 50/50 tickets will be available throughout the event.
Enjoy live bands, a petting zoo and beer gardens all day. Stick around for the outdoor movie at 9 p.m.
Food and drinks can be purchased at the canteen. Make sure to bring your own lawn chairs and help support the Middlebro Community Club.
Wrestling for the Wetlands
Get ready to wrestle to help preserve the wetlands this Saturday at the Premier Tech Arena in Richer.
Live pro wrestling matches will be held to raise funds for Ducks Unlimited, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving, restoring and managing Canada’s wetland habitats.
General admission is $15, or $10 for children 12 and under. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for general viewers. VIP access tickets can be purchased for $20, granting meet and greets with the wrestlers at 6 p.m. Bell time is 7:15 p.m.
Cotton candy, food from Farm Dog Food Truck, Ducks Unlimited raffles and 50/50 tickets can be purchased throughout the night. A kids’ wrestling poster contest is also available for those who want to participate.
Tickets can be purchased at Burnell’s Food Plus, the Richer Inn or by phoning Kyle at 204-510-4968. All proceeds from the night go directly to Ducks Unlimited.
