Hanover Soccer Club struggling across MMSL

It’s been a rough year for the Hanover Soccer Club’s Manitoba Major Soccer League (MMSL) teams.

Not only did their premier division team drop out for the 2022 season due to COVID-19 related player turnover, teams in lower divisions have struggled to find success on the pitch.

The Hanover Strikers of the fourth division are sitting in last place and with a loss to the Dirty Garrys Aug. 22 fell five points out of a tie for eighth place.

The match-up against Dirty Garrys was a chance for the Strikers to battle back into the standings race, and both teams looked to play aggressively, pouring on the offense. The Strikers found the back of the net five times, but still lost 8-5.

In the second division, the Hanover Sting’s Bison Cup run came to an end at the hands of first division leading Sporting Club Mosaic, who handed the lower division club an 8-0 loss in the second round of the knockout tournament.

The Sting have a record of 0-10-1 in the second division, but are hoping to pick up some points over the final stretch of the season. They’ll get a chance to play AC Fiorentina and Bandits FC, the two other lowest placing teams in the second division.

The Niverville Force, also playing in the second division, are in third place in their conference, and only one point behind second place Colo Colo SC, with two games in hand.
