A local festival, an anniversary celebration, and a fall supper are among the recipients of grant funding from the Manitoba government announced last week.

Sport, Culture and Heritage Minister Andrew Smith released a list of 59 community events that will each receive up to $5,000 under the Community Celebrations stream of the $100-million Arts, Culture and Sport in Community Fund established earlier this year.

The International Reggae Afro Latin (IRAL) Music and Arts Festival, which will return to Steinbach the weekend of March 3-5, 2023, received $5,000.

The same amount was doled out to the Morris Curling Club’s 125th anniversary celebration, which takes place April 13-16, 2023.

Last month’s fall supper in Ile des Chenes organized by Seine River Minor Baseball was also awarded $5,000.

“Celebrations, festivals, fall suppers and similar community-based events offer a unique opportunity for Manitobans to come together to celebrate their culture, heritage and community,” Smith said in a release.
