Rural artists get chance to draw in new audience

More than 60 Manitoba artists will get the chance to show their work at the Manitoba Rural and Northern Juried Art Show.

The artists from Central, Northern, Parkland, Eastman, Interlake and Westman regions of Manitoba were selected by a jury.

Mediums include painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media and textiles. The event allows artists to draw in new audiences, share their art with their community and create connections with other artists.

Local artists featuring their work include Mary Lousie Chown, Rita Shields, Ida MacKenzie, Genevie Henderson and Rosemarie Peloquin.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public with support from Assiniboine Credit Union, Gardewine and the Province of Manitoba. The exhibit is open Aug. 1 to 27 inside St Boniface Hospital in the Buhler Gallery.

The reception runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Aug 13.
