Steinbach man charged for Emerson murder

A 28-year-old Steinbach man is facing second degree murder charges after a man was found dead in an Emerson home.
Police say they received a call of a dead male inside a residence on Second Street in Emerson at about 7:35 p.m. on March 1.
“Officers attended and located a 48-year-old male from the community deceased as a result of homicide,” they said in a press release. “The deceased was the resident of the home.”
Police say they quickly determined this was an isolated incident with no further risk to public safety.
On March 3, Ryan Wiens, 28, of Steinbach was arrested and charged with second degree murder. He was remanded into custody.
Police say the victim and suspect were known to each other.
