Knights and merrymakers returned to the realm of Cooks Creek after a six-year absence for the Cooks Creek Medieval Festival. Thousands came dressed for the occasion July 27-28 to see medieval battles with swords, axes and frying pans. There was also jousting featuring talent from North America and Europe, a large medieval-inspired feast with fiery entertainment and music, and plenty to do for the youngest revelers. This was the first festival at the site of the Immaculate Conception Church and Grotto of our Lady Lourdes since 2018, after the COVID Pandemic temporarily halted the splendor put on with the help of a host of volunteers since 2004. The event normally runs every two years, and is a fundraiser for the church grounds and community.
