Panthers drop third-place matches at soccer provincials

For the second consecutive year, teams from Niverville High School came up one match short of the podium at the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association (MHSAA) A-AAA provincials.
Both Panthers teams finished fourth at the 2023 provincials and those results were repeated this year. The 2024 MHSAA championships were hosted in Minnedosa.
Niverville’s boys team defeated Neepawa 2-0 in the quarterfinals, before falling 3-2 to Garden Valley in the semis. In the third place match, host Minnedosa picked up a 1-0 win.
Liam Montgomery and Haven Wiebe were named tournament all-stars.
In the girls’ bracket, Niverville once again fell to Garden Valley in the semi-finals, with Altona’s W.C. Miller taking home the banner.
Niverville lost out to Morden 2-1 in the third place match. Hannah DeGueldre was named a tournament all-star.
