Two dead after head-on collision

Two people are dead, a third is in serious condition and another is in critical condition following a head-on collision on Sunday morning.
Steinbach RCMP say they responded to the two-vehicle collision at 9:25 a.m. on Highway 12, about five kilometres north of Zhoda.
“Investigators believe a minivan, travelling north on Highway 12, attempted to pass a semi-trailer when it collided head-on with a southbound SUV,” they said in a Monday press release.
The 76-year-old male driver of the minivan and a 72-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 37-year-old male passenger was transported to hospital in serious condition.
The 41-year-old male driver of the SUV was transported to hospital in critical donation.
Steinbach RCMP, along with a forensic collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
