A “Get your benefits clinic” scheduled for June 25 in Steinbach will connect residents with community and government services.
Organized by the South East Equity Coalition, a group of around 15 local non-profits, the clinic will further their goal of promoting the well-being of the community.
In a press release, coalition member and Healthy Living facilitator for Southern Health, Adrienne Penner, said there are many services available.
“These clinics are an opportunity for folks to access various community and government services all in one place,” she wrote.
This event will allow people to update their Manitoba Health cards, ask about their Canadian Pension Plan, apply for rent assistance, get information about supports for people with disabilities, ask about a Manitoba identification card, apply for the Manitoba Seniors Hearing Aid Program, print a copy of their proof of income, get an application form for the disability tax credit, renew their Canadian Dental Care Plan and more.
Agencies in attendance will include Service Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, Employment and Income Assistance, Service Manitoba, Sara Riel, Manitoba Public Insurance, Community Financial Counseling Service, Steinbach Community Outreach, Income Supplement Program and Southern Health.
The event will also include a free barbecue (weather permitting) thanks to Earl’s Meat Market and South East Helping Hands.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 25 in the hall at the back of the United Church at 541 Main Street. It will also include some children’s activities.
