Danyel Heppner heading to DII college

Multi-sport athlete Danyel Heppner will continue her athletic persuits into the college game.

The softball and hockey player will be suiting up for the Lincoln University of Missouri Blue Tigers next season.

“This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and I wouldn’t be here without the support of so many people,” Heppner said in a post on the Eastman Wildcats social media, thanking her parents, coaches and teammates.

The Niverville resident will be playing softball for the division two Blue Tigers, as she closes out her minor career with the Westman Magic in the Manitoba Premier Softball League. Westman and Eastman rosters have combined to field a U19 team this season.

Heppner also played for the U18 AAA Eastman Selects, helping them to a championship this season, serving as one of the team’s assistant captains this year. She had 28 points in 43 games this year.
