Steinbach Arts Council has announced its 2025/26 concert series season with old favourites and new performers.
“This concert series is similar to our other concert series in that we seem to have a variety of genres and styles that kind of appeal to everyone. There are some repeat favourites and then there are some different things that have not been presented in the past few years,” said performing arts coordinator Tara Schellenberg.
Opening up the series is East Coast singer-songwriter and Canadian Folk Music Award winner Ian Sherwood. He combines guitar, saxophone, and storytelling blurring the lines between folk and pop. He will play on Oct. 9 at the SRSS Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

“He is so East Coast in that way. Every song has a story to go with it and he’s really great at drawing the audience in and making them feel like a part of that story so that when you hear the music it has even more of a meaning to it. It makes for an incredible live experience…You really get to hear from the person who wrote these songs himself and what they mean to him and what was going on in his life at the time and it’s just a wonderful intimate concert,” said Schellenberg.
On Nov. 2, Prairie Sons will perform with prairie-born award-winning musicians David Liam Roberts on cello and Godwin Friesen on piano. Both performers were named to the CBC’s list of Hot 30 Classical Musicians Under 30. They will play the SRSS Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
Returning to Steinbach is everyone’s favourite Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Holiday Tour with classic holiday music. Featuring guest artists Erin Propp and Larry Roy and local artists. Curtain rises on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Crossview Church.
Kicking off 2026 is Proximus 5 on Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Church. This five-voice male acapella group from Winnipeg is known for their spine tingling harmonies in medieval, modern, choral, and pop music. Their concert will also feature a collaboration with the SRSS Chamber Choir directed by Kristel Peters.
“They’ve got so much experience in the vocal ensemble world I think they said they’ve got almost a century of experience between all of them. They’re really, really wonderful vocal ensemble singers and they do the whole range of styles. They’ll do pop, and they’ll also do Gregorian chants and everything in between. They’re masters of their crafts and they will be very interesting for sure,” said Schellenberg.
Closing out the season is the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s regional tour of Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad. The story revolves around a single mom and single dad who meet and fall in love at a minor hockey game. The play blends humour, wit, and heart. It will play on March 1 at SRSS Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
Schellenger said SAC is already working on next year’s concert series.
“We’re never quiet for long here. We’ve always got some plans cooking up and it’s really exciting even when we’re looking forward to this new concert season of just planning for what the next one is, because we’re always trying to bring the freshest and most exciting things to our community,” she noted.
Tickets to SAC’s concerts and plays range from $17 to $34. Season tickets are $130 plus a membership fee for general admission and $120 plus a membership fee for seniors.
