Two of the recent Manitoba High School Athletic Associations athletes of the week came from the region, as Springfield Collegiate and Morris School volleyball players were honoured.

“He leads the team offensively and can be counted on to get a kill in key situations.”

Hamblin is also the student council president, while also playing multiple other sports for Morris.

A week later, junior varsity standout Coltyn Senkow was recognized. Senkow was named the provincial AAA most valuable player as Springfield nabbed the boys junior varsity volleyball banner, the school’s first provincial banner in more than three decades.

“Coltyn is an incredible athlete; he is an intimidating presence at the net and is a very strong power hitter,” a news release reads.

“He leads by example and is always first in the gym setting up the nets. He is a hard worker in practices and games and plays with true sportsmanship, respecting his opponents and officials.”
