Cassidy Dankochik’s recent pictures from the Richer Rodeo reminded me that I ran into him at the bull riding event. I told him how much I appreciated the coverage of the SRSS Sabres Football program for the last couple of years. My reasons are selfish as my oldest son was on the team, and I like seeing high-quality pictures and articles about him.

Once Cassidy learned who my son was, I was taken aback at how much he knew. He knew who he was, what position he played, and that he was now playing for the Winnipeg Rifles. We continued our conversation about Sabres Football, their strength and weaknesses and their upcoming season. After that conversation I have a feeling he has that same depth of knowledge about most of our local teams.

It seems you can find Cassidy at any night of the week at a different local sporting event. I personally have seen him on the sidelines or in the stands of football, soccer, hockey, baseball games, and now rodeo. He is the main reason I started buying The Carillon regularly. I look forward to his articles in the paper, and his Sports Second Shots. He is a gem.
