Founding Families Classic Golf Tournament announced

As the Tache Community Complex becomes closer to reality for the community of Lorette, the fundraising committee has come up with a plan that will not only raise funds, but honour those who have already done so much for the community.

The Founding Families Classic Golf Tournament will be presented by the RM of Tache along with title sponsor Three Way Builders on Sept. 18.

“Under the theme, ‘Generations of builders, bound by a legacy’, the tournament unites community members, local businesses and golf enthusiasts to celebrate Tache’s rich history while actively investing in its future,” an Aug. 19 press release stated.

“Back in the ’60s, it was the local families and business owners that grouped together to make it happen,” Tache councillor and fundraising committee member Natashia Lapeire said of the construction of the first Lorette arena.

All proceeds from the tournament will support the construction of the new Tache Community Complex, described by the RM of Tache as a modern, multi-use facility designed to serve regional families, youth and seniors.

But honouring founding families goes much farther than the tournament itself.

The RM of Tache has also launched an initiative to recognize those families, “whose vision, labour, and generosity built the original Lorette Community Complex”.

“Community members are encouraged to submit family names, archival photographs, and historical stories to help document and preserve Tache’s shared heritage,” the press release states.

The tournament takes place Sept. 18 at the Lorette Golf Course. Registration is at noon with the shotgun start happening at 1 p.m.

The event is an 18-hole Texas scramble with a cart and dinner included in the $150 cost per golfer.

Organizers say a variety of tournament sponsorship packages remain available.
