Hanover School Division to expand administrative building

The Hanover School Division administrative office is getting a $4.7 million facelift that will house about 50 additional staff.

“It’s exciting. I mean, we know that our division continues to grow, and we have emerging needs for more office space with the expansion that the board has approved,” said superintendent Joe Thiessen to the board of trustees during the last board meeting.

“We’ve been in this current space for approximately 18 years, if I got that right, and with the continued growth we need the office space.”

The 12,200 square-foot two-storey addition will centrally house about 50 additional staff, such as clinicians, student services, support staff, senior administrators, and learning coaches. As student services will be housed at the new addition, it will leave its current space next to Stonybrook Middle School. The office space at the school will be used for classrooms.

There will also be a large conference room that will be used for professional development and meetings. The addition will also allow for more payroll offices and space for other departments.

“It will allow us to continue to grow as a division, so I’m very excited about that,” said Thiessen.

Construction will begin this fall with Three Way Builders and is expected to be completed next fall. For now, the entrance to the building will be moved to the back.
