Incumbent Reeve Ivan Normandeau won the election with 857 votes, defeating former Reeve Lewis Weiss by only nine votes.

Weiss was first elected in 2014, re-elected in 2018, but lost the 2022 election to Normandeau.

Ward 1 and 2 re-elected all incumbent councillors. In Ward 1, Benno Friesen led the win with 517 votes, followed by Andy Loewen (497) and Darell Unger (432).

Ward 2 re-elected Paul Gauthier (647), Fernand Piché (617), followed by Laurent Tetrault (576).

Coun. Friesen said he will do his best for improvements, such as better roads, in the area he was raised in.

However, Friesen was not pleased with the outcome. He said he would rather have a rural reeve instead of a town reeve for better rural representation.

“I’d have liked to seen that, but I have to accept the outcome the way it came out,” Friesen said. “I’m okay with how the results went; people voted, and that’s democracy.”

Normandeau declined to comment.
