Former Woodridge Inn waitress and cook Christina Greenaway saw a void left by the 2011 fire that destroyed the gathering place for residents and visitors. After running a mobile kitchen for the last two years to feed the hungry campers and people looking to go out for a bite in the forested community, Greenaway took the opportunity offered by building owner Ron Loeppky to make a dream come true and grow a successful restaurant in the new timber construction.

Greenaway now plans to branch out the new Roadside Grille offerings after what she described as an awesome response from customers since opening last month. The licensed establishment is constructing a bar in the restaurant, and Greenaway said she plans on having an outdoor patio this summer. Live bands playing amongst the pine trees is part of the plan.

Greenaway moved to the area seven years ago to take care of a friend’s house. She said she could never go back to Winnipeg after finding such peace in the natural beauty of the community surrounded by the Sandilands Provincial Forest down Highway 210. Anyone headed out to unwind in Woodridge can visit the Roadside Grille seven days per weeks. It is open for breakfast and closes at 11 p.m. on weekends. Summer hours will be later with the camping rush and live entertainment.
