Photographer writes children’s book

A well-known local wildlife photographer has pursued a new project and, perhaps most importantly, a new audience.
Dennis Fast, a veteran of 10 books, is displaying some of the dazzling photos he captured in Canada’s far north in his first ever children’s book.
Written in imaginative rhymes, Princess follows a young polar bear as she teachers her newborn twins their first life lessons. The colour book shines with large pictures demonstrating the mystique of the wildlife that make the north their home, along with easy-to-follow poetry.
In a way, Fast is coming full-circle with his latest project: he is doing something for kids. He was previously a principal and teacher in the Hanover School Division.
“Kids is where it starts,” he said.
