G & E Homes will be celebrating their thirtieth anniversary as a company in 2016, which comes on the heels of a successful year of projects and awards in 2015.

G & E Homes won two awards in the Parade of Homes in October—one for a home in Steinbach and one for a home in Oakbank. Both homes received the gold award, which is the top award.

Cheryl Dueck, president, said they enter homes each year in the Parade of Homes and typically win an award.

“It’s kind of a mission every year to make sure we win an award,” she said.

In fact, 2015 was not the only successful year for G & E Homes for awards—the company’s website lists dozens of awards, ranging from gold, silver, and bronze, that they’ve received from the Parade of Homes over the last ten years.

In 2014, G & E Homes received the platinum new home sales award—meaning they had the second highest sales volume in Manitoba that year—through the Manitoba Home Builder’s Association. Dueck said for this award, they submitted the addresses of the homes they sold and what they sold for during that year.

Dueck has been involved in the company for the last 25 years. She stepped into the role of president after the sudden passing of the former president, her husband Garry.

When asked by The Carillon if the company has been continuing with her husband’s vision, Dueck replied with an absolutely.

“Pretty much everything that we do when we purchase land and develop the property—you really need to have the visions, because those processes take a lot of time,” said Dueck. “A lot of that is very into the future. So yes, right now that’s part of the vision for the last number of years.”

G & E Homes have many projects on the go right now, including a 120-acre subdivision in Hampton Village, an 80-unit condo complex in Steinbach, Terrace on Third, Berkeley Bend, Bristol Drive, and Ashford Lane in Steinbach. They’re also working on projects in Lorette, Oakbank, and Winnipeg.
