The future looks bright for a local internet company.

In a May 6 announcement, local internet company Swift High Speed announced they bought Niverville-based 3T Systems.

Discussions had taken place over the past few months about the acquisition, according to a release, and the sale “was very simple and smooth” as both company’s priorities aligned.

“They had a lot of networking expertise that we wanted to bring to Swift,” Evan Schroeder of Swift High Speed told The Carillon.

Rural internet isn’t a priority for some larger urban-based companies that are interested in a certain amount of density per block, and rural internet infrastructure is a priority for Swift, Schroeder said.

Staff at Swift comes to 36 after the acquisition. 3T invested in the Niverville, Grande Pointe, Ile des Chenes area, and Swift intends to fill gaps in nearby areas, Schroeder said.

“Nothing is more important to us than ensuring a smooth transition and a continued high level of service for our customers,” Jordan Hiebert, president of 3T Systems said in the release.

Business has been hopping lately, Schroeder said, given the number of people working at home.

“Workers who are at home in the areas Swift covers need internet that’s as good as it is in Winnipeg,” he said.
