Charges pending in crash near Ste Anne

RCMP are considering laying criminal charges against a 58-year-old Lorette man involved Monday in a highway collision near Ste Anne that sent a 27-year-old Mitchell woman to hospital.
Steinbach RCMP were called at 8:20 a.m. to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 12 and Provincial Road 210.
Manitoba RCMP Sgt. Paul Manaigre said the man’s westbound pickup truck stopped at the yield then crossed Highway 12 and collided with the woman’s southbound sedan.
A STARS air ambulance transported the woman to Health Sciences Centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries, Manaigre said.
STARS spokesman Chad Saxon said the woman was in unstable condition at the time of transport.
Ste Anne Fire Chief John Desrochers said firefighters had to extricate the woman from her vehicle.
The man wasn’t injured.
Members of the Steinbach RCMP and Ste Anne Police Department directed traffic at the crash site for more than an hour while crews cleared the scene.
RCMP continue to investigate. Manaigre said Highway Traffic Act or criminal charges are pending against the man.
