Highway 12 from the Trans-Canada Highway to Anola will be reconstructed next year, Infrastructure Minister Doyle Piwniuk announced Oct. 3 near Ste Anne.
The province will spend $26.9 million to rehabilitate a 20-kilometre segment of Highway 12 between the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 15.
Crews will pulverize the existing surface, apply bituminous pavement, and widen the shoulders to meet current standards.

Work will also include improving the intersection at Provincial Road 501, rehabilitating the railway crossing south of Anola, and improving drainage as required.
Increases in commercial loads and overall traffic volumes have caused rutting and rapid deterioration on the two-lane stretch of Highway 12, Piwniuk said.
Upgrades to the area were first proposed as part of the provincial Trade and Commerce Grid.
A tender period will close in November. Roadwork will take place in 2023. Piwniuk said pilot trucks will guide traffic while the roadwork takes place.
“It’s going to be a little inconvenient, but it’s going to be a little pain for a long-term gain.”
