Diners at Blatz B-stro were surprised to get dinner and a show last Thursday afternoon.
The Steinbach Fire Department and Steinbach RCMP were dispatched to Blatz B-stro around 12:30 p.m. on April 6 after reports a car crashed through the side of a building.
Mounties on scene said a female driver pulled into a parking spot in front of the diner but accelerated instead of hitting the brakes.
Denis Perreault was dining in the restaurant when a white sedan came crashing through the front window.
“I just kept eating my lunch,” he remarked, adding he doesn’t scare easily.
Perreault said diners at the tables directly in front of the window where the car drove through left moments before the crash occurred.
A woman in her 60s, and the lone occupant in the vehicle, was subjected to a breathalyzer at the scene. Readings came back as a warning and, as a result, the driver received an automatic license suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.
Steinbach RCMP Const. Dennis Redikop said because the driver has previous impaired driving convictions, her license received an automatic 15-day suspension.
The female was also charged with careless driving in connection with the incident. She was not injured in the accident.
One person dining in the restaurant was transported to hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.
