For the first time since 2019, the Gardenton AC Music Festival will fill Gardenton park with the sound of guitars, drums and vocals.

Gates open at 12 p.m. for the festival with the show starting at 1 p.m. and running until midnight.

Organizer and co-founder Joe Blair said the event got its start on his farm back in 2013 and has been in the Gardenton Park every year since 2016, except for three years of cancelled shows due to the pandemic.

“This is our first year back,” he said.

Past attendees will be familiar with the format, with Blair saying the only changes are their costs.

That prompted them to reach out to sponsors, enabling them to attract some great musicians.

They include Ray Moss – easy listening, Stonewalled – classic rock covers, Damn Straight – rock & roll, Generation Gap – 60s to 90s classic rock, Heartbreak Highway – songs of Tom Petty, and country act Banned & Outlawed.

“We have such a great lineup this year,” he said. “I’m really excited about it.”

The “AC” in the event’s name stands for Angel’s Cabin, part of Blair’s company called Angel’s Cabin Song Publisher. Blair said the name of the event was shortened to “AC”, so event goers weren’t confused by the name, perhaps thinking they were attending a gospel concert.

The event also includes non-serviced camping for small fee, the ability to buy lunch and supper at the canteen as well as a perogy sausage dinner for $10.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

“We’re not there to make a lot of money,” Blair said. “We’re there to cover the cost and for everybody to have a good time.”

Every year since the first event, Blair said he kicks things of the same way with his welcome to the crowd.

“Hello Gardenton. Live from the big and beautiful outdoor stage at the Gardenton Ukrainian Museum and park, I welcome you to the AC Music Festival,” he said. “You know you’re there when you hear that.”
