Superstore employee threatened with hatchet

RCMP say a Superstore employee was threatened with a long silver hatchet and told “you better step away” when they confronted a shoplifter in the parking lot.

The incident happened on Jan. 14 at 3:42 p.m., when a couple paid for a few items but according to police walked out the door with the other stolen items.

The confrontation happened when an employee approached them in the parking lot.

RCMP are looking for a white male with large build, bald and with a big black beard.

The female is described as white, stocky in build and having long hair.

The pair left in a black car.

RCMP are treating the incident as an armed robbery and are looking for assistance from the public.
