LETTER TO THE EDITOR: MP’s medical knowledge sorely lacking

Hey there, time traveller!

Our feckless MP, Ted Falk, is at it again, spouting lies about things he knows nothing about. First it was vaccines, when he said “…you were 13 times more likely to die from the delta variant if you were double vaccinated than if you were unvaccinated.” Of course that was flat out wrong; So much so that he apologized for his statement. And, following that, his federal Conservative party muzzled him, realizing correctly that his ‘head-in-the-sand’ constituents would elect a yellow dog, as long as that dog was mute.
Now MD Falk has weighed in on another topic – safe injection sites – with his fatal medical ‘knowledge.’ He claims that the sites, “…do not work.” and that there is, “…no credible evidence to prove they work.” Factually, there is a mountain of global evidence to suggest that safe-injection sites not only reduce overdoses but save lives. And while the sites are not a stand-alone cure-all, they are part of a series of steps that help people fight addictions and again, ultimately save lives. They also keep contaminated drugs and drug paraphernalia – which lead to death – off the streets.
But of course Falk – and his lemmings – pay homage to the one percent of quacks who prescribe to conspiracy theories rather than to research and science. You know, the anti-climate change, anti-vax tinfoil hat crowd. Find some study, somewhere in the world to support whatever you ‘think’ suits your position and start spreading the gospel. (Which, ironically enough, sounds like the ‘Gospel.’ But I digress.)
Interesting too how Falk, a follower of Jesus, likes to dehumanize and categorize the marginalized, you know, like Jesus did over and over again in the New Testament. It must be nice for Falk to be able to so neatly compartmentalize into black and white, people who are ‘other.’
They say people get the government they deserve. In Provencher nothing could be more true.
