A study done by Lucky Days, an online gambling site, has found that Manitoba is the third unhappiest province in the country.
Using data from Statistics Canada, the National Statistical Office, the Government of Canada and other sources, the study analyzed eight essential quality of life metrics and scored them out of ten.
“Unfortunately, the province faces challenges, notably obtaining the lowest score for life expectancy, shown by the lowest life expectancy across Canada at 79.9 years,” read the study.

The report also showed that Manitoba had the second lowest score for crime by having the highest number of reported violent crimes in 2022 totaling 2,441 crimes per 100,000 residents. Manitoba has a population of 1.4 million.
Other scores out of 10 (10 being the happiest) were life satisfaction (4.35); median annual family income (2.63); perceived health (4.07); perceived mental health (3.01); unemployment risk (9.45); and air quality (8.50).
Despite its lower overall ranking, Manitoba stands out for having “abundant career opportunities” boasting the second lowest unemployment rate in Canada at 4.80 percent.
The unhappiest place in Canada was found to be Saskatchewan, while the happiest province was Quebec.
