SAC announces casting call for community musical

If you’ve ever been bitten by the acting bug, a community musical celebrating the Steinbach Arts Council’s 45th anniversary has an opportunity for you.
SAC announced they will hold open auditions for all ages to be part of the multi-generational cast of Fiddler on the Roof.
The Oscar-winning adaptation of the Broadway musical about life among the Jewish community of a pre-revolutionary village, it features a poor milkman, determined to find good husbands for his five daughters. Along the way he consults the traditional matchmaker and also has a word with God.

The story has touched audiences with its humour, warmth and universal appeal and will play four shows from Feb. 6 to Feb. 9, 2025.
It will be directed by David Klassen with Kristy Penner serving as assistant director.
Audition dates are Aug. 14, 15, 20 and 21 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre.
Those who win the roles will have to be available for rehearsals one weeknight per week plus weekends beginning in November until show dates.
Thirteen roles are up for grabs including Tevye – male 40-50 years old, Golde – female 40-50 years old, Tzeitel – female 20 years old, Hodel – female 18 years old, Chava – female 16 years old, Yente – female 60 plus, Motel – male 20 years old, Perchik – male 18 years old, Lazar Wolfe – male 55-70 years old, Rabbi – male 60 plus, Fruma Sarah (ghost) – female 40 years old, Grandma Tzeitel (ghost) – female 70 plus, and a chorus made up of all ages.
Auditionees will be asked to sing the selection provided ahead of time and read a portion of the script made available at the audition.
